A question of uniting the community

Young people from the Greenacres Youth Inclusion Project took part in a quiz last month which was designed to unite the Derker community.

The Friends of Stoneleigh Park organised the event, which was held at the Grange sheltered housing scheme, after securing funding from Voluntary Action Oldham. A total of 10 teams took part in the quiz with ages ranging from 11 to 91.

Safir Rafiq, from Greenacres YIP, said: "It was interesting to watch the young people talk and share jokes with some of the pensioners and residents who took part. The quiz night created a real feel-good factor atmosphere and had a good range of questions."   The funding received will also be used to stage a karaoke contest, a community tea dance and bulb planting sessions over the next few months.
