The learndirect team at Highway to Opportunities (H2O) are celebrating being shortlisted for a ‘centre of the year’ learndirect achievement awards for 2008.
Learndirect coordinator Louise Day comments; ‘To find out we’ve been nominated, and shortlisted is amazing. We have a small team working with learners in the centre, and it’s great that their dedication and support has been recognised at a higher level.’
From August 2006 the service has seen over 500 students sign up for learndirect courses, many of whom have progressed onto further courses after the support shown by the centre team.
‘The team have worked tirelessly throughout the last year to promote learndirect to the harder to reach communities in Oldham, advertising the service at various events in the borough such as jobsfairs, and utilising the outreach services which both H20 and partner agencies offer to the wider community,’ Explains Jayne Entwistle H20 Director
The team will now attend a special awards ceremony at The Lowry Hotel on 18th June, where the regional winners will be announced.
