Free Healthy Lifestyle Brief Intervention Training for staff

Positive Steps Oldham are offering free Health Lifestyles training to anyone working with young people and adults in Oldham.

The two day training course uses a multi agency delivery team and focuses on smoking, physical activity, nutrition, alcohol and substance misuse and sexual health.

The aim is to provide participants with information and skills to help and support people to take control of their health and related behaviours relating to healthy lifestyle choices and to raise awareness of relevant support services and access to them. Participants so far have been from Connexions, Drugs and Alcohol services, Learning Mentors, housing staff and voluntary organisations.

Participant organisations need to provide a venue and recruit participants and everything else, resources, lunch, training delivery is provided at no cost.

Chris Thomson, training co-ordinator says’ We have a great delivery team from Brook, OASIS, the PCT Stop Smoking service, Healthy Schools and Oldham Community Leisure and PSO, who ensure that the 2 days are both very enjoyable and informative.

Participant’s evaluations and feedback have been overwhelmingly positive, indicating raised confidence to make lifestyles changes themselves and to support or signpost others to do so.

’ There are still a few course dates available in the New Year and any public or voluntary section organisations interested should contact Chris direct on 0161 621 9389 or at christinethomson@positivestepsoldham.org.uk

The training is commissioned by Oldham Partnership
