Free fun in the sun for Oldham this weekend

All Oldham residents are invited to enjoy the sun shine in Alexandra Park this weekend, with Oldham's biggest free fun day.

Oldham Unite, which brings together all agencies working with children and young people across Oldham and Oldham Borough Games, will be taking place on Saturday from 11.00-4.00pm. This year the festival includes dragon boat races, local dance troops, music video and drumming workshops, inflatable pirate ship and an inflatable assault course plus much more!

Youth sports teams from across Oldham will also be competing in a range of athletics. The seventh Oldham Borough Games is organised by the council's Integrated Youth Service and features 240 participants from school years 4, 5 and 6. They will compete for the six district areas in football, tag rugby, netball and cricket.

Alliance Development Officer Laura Windsor is encouraging everyone to come to Alexandra Park and attend the activities this weekend. 'This year Oldham Unite is bigger and better than ever, there are so many fun activities for people to try and everything is free. Its a great excuse to get the family out in the sunshine and have some fun without it costing you an arm and a leg.'

The event runs from 11.00-4.00pm and will be supported by local partners such as police fire service, Oldham Council, youth services and various youth organisations.
