Greenacres YIP at PACT community quiz night

Partners And Community Together (PACT) is a method used across the borough to allow the council, Police and partner agencies to engage with residents.

PACT's allow these services to identify issues that affect communities and allow them together to resolve these issues. Having the PACT based in the community allowed for a good attendance.

Through receiving funding from Voluntary Action Oldham's Community Grant Scheme the Friends of Stoneleigh Park supported this event by organizing a community quiz night to follow the meeting. During the quiz residents were also encouraged to complete police questionnaires based on their community

The quiz allowed residents to talk informally with agencies working in the St James and build relationships with each other. A team of local residents piped a team from Oldham Fire Station to win the quiz. Which was closely followed by a team made up of Council officials and in fourth place was a team of young people from Greenacres YIP and Groundwork

East Oldham Community Champion, Councillor Linda Dawson, said "The Council and partners are continuing to try new ways of talking to residents about their areas. By joining in with an existing social event such as this, we were able to speak to a number of people who wouldn't normally come out to a formal meeting. We'd like to thank the Friends of Stoneleigh Park for organising this successful event, and for everyone who came out to take part."
