Key businesses in Oldham are hosting an event for employers working in the children’s workforce; the health industry; the community justice and the adult social care sector to come and meet with young people to find out how they can develop their workforce to increase productivity.

‘Predictions are that the demand for staff in these sectors will grow. This event has been organised to show employers how together we can prepare young people for working life whilst helping employers getting a more productive workforce.’
The event also introduces employers to qualifications that young people can work towards in education sectors.
‘We are inviting all those employing young people to come along, find out the benefits that employment programmes aimed at young people can bring to employers, and help shape tomorrow’s workforce.’ Concludes Kelly
Young people will also be available throughout the day to tell employers what workplace experience and opportunities provides to them.
The event will also contain the Young Apprenticeship Awards which showcases the successes and achievements of the Young Apprenticeship Scheme in Oldham Young Apprentices are offered an insight into “real work” in this industry through employer involvement.
Young people will be presenting a local employer with a ‘Young Apprenticeship Employer of the Year 2008’ award.
