Positive Steps Oldham has proven its credentials in delivering Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) through 'The Centre' – the integrated one-stop-shop for young people. The Inspiring IAG award is one of the largest quality marks in the country and The Centre has now worked its way through the Bronze and Silver Standards to achieve the Gold Award.
Richard Rawlinson, manager of the town centre based service, said:
"We were visited by a national inspector, who scrutinised the wide range of services we deliver to young people. The Inspector focused on quality assurance, innovation, results and the organisational processes that make it all come together. The inspector had lunch with a group of young people from 'The Centre Café' to gather their comments regarding the services delivered from the centre."
Tim Mitchell, Chief Executive of Positive Steps Oldham, said:
"Despite the cuts in funding during the last year, I am proud that our team has continued to deliver services that are recognised as the best in the region, if not nationally. The informal feedback that we had from the Assessor was that The Centre was unique in what it provided and the successes it achieved."
The Inspiring IAG Award has seen over 100 organisations across Greater Manchester put themselves forward, with just three other organisations having achieved the Gold Award.
