New Home for Highway to Opportunities
Highway to Opportunities (H2O), the new service enabling adults to find work, improve their skills or think about a new career, has opened its new, purpose-designed centre in Brunswick House on Union Street.
H2O was formed in May by the merger of three existing organisations, the Adult Careers Guidance Service, Opportunities for Women and Routes to Employment.
The new centre in Brunswick House offers adults living, working or studying in Oldham the perfect place to access H2O’s services.
Its facilities include:
- A brand new IT training suite featuring 20 PCs
- A drop-in service with internet access
- A resource and vacancy area offering access to the latest jobs and job search information
- A welcoming reception area with tea and coffee available
Professionally qualified careers advisers are available to help people think about their career options, a variety of courses are offered to help people return to work or work for the first time and clients can access intensive job search support.
Operational Manager Les Crabb explains: “The new centre has brought together staff from all three former services. It has enabled us to provide a truly integrated range of learning, support and employment-related services that will empower clients to achieve their potential.”
The new centre is open to the public from 9am to 5pm every weekday.
In addition to the Brunswick Street base, H2O continues to offer a range of services from St Chad’s Centre in Limehurst Village. Further satellite centres will be opened around Oldham in the coming months.
