Oldham mums have been given a skills boost this week after completing a STEPs Personal Success course delivered by Highway to Opportunities and Spring Meadows Children Centre.

‘The course enables them to move forward in any area of their life where they have identified room for improvement, including work, training, engaging with the community and relationships. The end result is that the mum’s became more aware of their full potential, after spending a period of time evaluating, and analysing it.’
Some of the mum’s have already progressed onto further training, or employment and a number of others are looking into volunteering opportunities.
"It’s been absolutely brilliant, its given my confidence a real boost.’ Explains Tabasum Kausar one of the mums.
‘The course has helped me overcome my phobia of using Public Transport, and I am now attending a computer course. I feel so proud of myself. If I can do it, anyone can. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone’
The course ran for eight weeks and participants will now be invited to an additional session with partner agencies including Job Centre Plus, Lifelong Learning, Oldham Primary Care Trust, Early Years and Oldham College who will all be offering further advice on moving on with jobs and training.
