Oldham Teachers Congratulated on PSHE Qualifications
Eight teachers in Oldham have been awarded with Certificates for achieving a nationally recognised qualification of teaching PSHE this week. The awards ceremony took place at the Norton Grange Hotel, on Friday 6th July.
The teachers from both Primary and Secondary schools in Oldham have been working towards this qualification for the last twelve months which has seen them gain the skills and competencies to deliver the more sensitive areas of personal social health education, such as teenage pregnancy, drug awareness, and sexual health.
PSHE Lead and Oldham Healthy Schools coordinator Linda Devlin, from Positive Steps Oldham, congratulates the teachers on their award. ‘It is widely recognised across the borough that elements delivered in PSHE lessons such as , sexual health, teenage pregnancy , drugs and alcohol can contribute to a young person making healthy and positive life choices and achieving positive post school destinations. Therefore a big congratulations should go to these teachers who have studied hard for this certificate.’
The training has been supported by Colin Avery, Sexual Health Trainer, Oldham PCT, and Oasis@Connexions, Oldham’s alcohol and substance intervention service for young people.
