Oldham locals came out in force to train their brains and sight last week as Highway to Opportunities (H2O) offered free sessions to members of the public on a Nintendo DS Lite.
learndirect and Nintendo had teamed up and were offering the chance for visitors to train their brains and test their skills in the centre, using the hand-held consoles.
The event was part of a nationwide tour including learndirect centres and is line with learndirect’s overall aim to boost skills in the UK.
‘We had a steady stream of people dropping in, having a go, and identifying where their skills gap may lie’ comments Jayne Entwistle, H2O director.
‘We are confident some of these will progress on to a Learndirect course.’
Research from learndirect has shown that 13.5 million adults across the UK experience stress as a direct result of their lack of ability in basic skills.
Learndirect offer a range of courses including English, Maths and I.T which can be accessed from home, or from the Learndirect suite at H2O.
