back to news and projects

As part of their on going work to raise awareness of young peoples sexual health issues the teenage pregnancy partnership have organised a series of events to promote Contraceptive Awareness Week 11-17th February.

A range of young people’s services will be promoting positive messages about contraception and good sexual health through a range of fun activities including:

  • Guess the condoms in the jar competition across youth centres.
  • Sexual Health Quiz’s.
  •  Free goody bags will be distributed across the week containing information on where to access help, and free condoms.

"There are more forms of contraception available now than ever.’ Comments Debra Malone Associate Director, Oldham Primary Care Trust.

‘"We want to ensure Oldham residents are aware of the services and support which is available, it's much easier to find a method that suits people's personal requirements- free contraception is also much easier to obtain, especially condoms. Oldham residents need to learn more about the free contraceptive services that are available to them locally.”

Oldham Teenage Pregnancy Partnership Board is a multi-agency board bringing together the Local Education Authority, Primary Care Trust, Pennine Acute Trust, the voluntary sector, OMBC Housing Department and Positive Steps Oldham, a local independent sector organisation that delivers a range of young people’s services, including Connexions and the Youth Offending Service.
