Positive Steps Oldham

Top marks for H20

back to news and projects

Highway to Opportunities have celebrated their first Learndirect birthday by achieving excellent results in the quarterly Learndirect customer satisfaction survey.

H20 deliver Learndirect in Oldham, which provides adults with access to a range of free courses through their well equipped computer suite based at their central office on Brunswick Square.

The results show that students completing the course found the learning surroundings, tutor support, and course content highly satisfactory. The average satisfaction rate was 97.9% for students completing Learndirect courses with H20. This is well above the National and North West average of 95%

‘We are thrilled with the results of the satisfaction survey,’ comments H20 Director Jayne Entwistle ‘In the last twelve months since Learndirect courses have been delivered from H20 we have had nearly 400 learners accessing over 1200 courses which is really encouraging. These results clearly recognise the commitment and dedication of the staff at the centre’

‘There are a variety of courses available from brushing up on English, maths and computer skills, through to the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). There really is something for everyone; courses are designed to meet individual needs so you can learn at your own pace as well as coming out with a recognised qualification. I hope these results encourage others to sign up for courses, or come in for a chat and see what we have to offer’

H2O is also participating in the Learndirect ‘read together’ scheme.

Learndirect have teamed up with children’s author Peter Corey, and celebrity parents Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to launch a new children’s book called ‘Where did the river go?’ providing parents an opportunity to read with their children

Research shows that 1 in 5 parents admit to making words up, or skipping parts in a bid to get story time over with. This programme is designed to encourage parents to read with their children, to gauge their skills and levels, whilst their children enjoy the story. Once parents have gauged their skills there is an opportunity to chat to a Learndirect tutor about any courses which may help them to improve their confidence.

Anyone wanting a copy of ‘Where did the river go?’ can visit www.wheredidtherivergo.co.uk and download a voucher, take this into H20 where they will have a chat with a Learndirect tutor, and receive their complimentary pack.
