back to news and projects
A group of girls attending Oldham’s Youth Inclusion Project based at Fitton Hill have produced, and had published, a health and beauty book. It began as a summer project and the girls attended sessions after school and at weekends researching and writing up. The book contains detailed instructions on popular topics such as growing and caring for your nails, how to apply make-up, identifying your skin type and a variety of health topics which include how to stop smoking, how to get a good night’s sleep and healthy eating and nutrition. The printing costs for 2000 copies of the book have been funded by New Deal For Communities and Villages Housing. All proceeds will be donated to Dr Kershaws Hospice, caring for adults with non curable life threatening illnesses, Brian Hurst from Dr Kershaw’s hospice comments, ‘Thank you for choosing Dr Kershaw’s Hospice as the charity to benefit from sales of the book. We are sure that the book will be a huge success as it is an outstanding, well researched publication.”
The girls are now looking for outlets or opportunities to sell these books so if anyone is aware of any events where this may be suitable, or is interested in a copy please contact Bernadette Stappleton on 0161 626 4778
