Fiona Bannister, Parenting Manager commented, ‘Parents of teenagers face the difficult job of keeping their children on track. Media influences, peer pressure and family circumstances all influence teenagers behaviour. It is important for parents to be able to access help and advice where necessary.’

‘The course covers a range of topics which parents may need help with, and also provides them with the additional support of meeting other parents in similar situations The course lasts eight weeks and looks at, positive behaviour, improving parent/child relationships, dealing with risky behaviour, and using structured problem solving strategies.’

‘We want parents to see us as a support tool, rather than a criticism about their parenting, the feedback we have had from parents so far has been positive.’ ‘We will be delivering these courses as group sessions, but the team are also available to deliver this on a 1-1 format so parents that can’t attend the group sessions can still access support.’

The team have trained 20 practitioners in delivering Triple P in Oldham. Several Secondary Schools will soon be offering this course to parents.
